Cars in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were notified by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior political figure stated the incident made him stunned and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
